The Season of Making Resolutions
I never have a new year resolution. My friends usually have a list, which at the end of the year, probably only 12 ticked out of 100. Here are the most popular ones that pops into my buy brain (which is not too busy due to the holiday atmosphere), with my contra in italic:
-
Quit smoking (should I really? I will someday, perhaps…)
-
Lose weight (do I need to?)
-
Be a better person, be more compassionate, all around that line-lah (that’s everyday prayer)
-
Save money (been doing it all the time)
-
Learn to do something new (don’t we do it everyday?)
-
Go to this place and that place (I do this spontaneously)
-
Get a new/better job (n/a)
-
Find a boyfriend/girlfriend (n/a)
-
Get pregnant (oh boy, I hope not!!!)
-
etc
I don’t make resolution and have never made one. Well, maybe the last time I did was when I was in my twenties. Something along reach a better rank or finish my school. But even that, it was not a new year’s resolution.
Not that I disagree on people making a list of it. As a matter of fact, I feel happy that they have plans. It’s just me. I just don’t have any, never felt the need to make any. I have no intention to quit smoking. I am not obese so no reason to lose weight. I save money anyways and I do things spontaneously. Besides, don’t you think having a target like that makes your life stressful? And isn’t that only during the first quarter of the year that you remember those resolutions? Look at the gym, it’s always full in January with new faces, but then in March, it’s just the regulars again. And at the end of the day, you can’t find your resolution checklist anyways.
Maybe my friend Dave and Kerm are right. That I am a Capricorn (this horoscope thing just came up because of my recent birthday and I don’t believe in star signs) so I’m easy to please.
I don’t have any new year resolution because I know I will not fulfill it. I’d rather have short plans that I know I can achieve. I live a spontaneous life. I like to respond on whatever comes to life. Like in early December, I plan to tone my muscles up again (it’s my 3rd week training like crazy and my muscles are showing back again). Or in March, I thought about going diving to Sabang and I did it in August.
I always feel that I’ve already had enough that I don’t have to make a list of resolution. I am at a point where I feel so blessed that all my prayers are answered. I have a person that takes care of me (Al is more than just a maid for me, she is like my sister). I have Samba and Atun that I can love and stroke, who loves me unconditionally. I have Koh Pri and Kiat, where I go to when I need a hug, a spank to be strong, who are my protectors, my big brother. As James Blunt said in the beginning of his hit song “You’re beautiful”: ”…My Life is Perfect….
Yes, my life is perfect. No matter what others say. Therefore, I don’t have a resolution. I don’t think I will ever have a new year’s resolution. Everyday I have a resolution: to be a person who can be grateful for what God has given me. And be more and more grateful that I have a perfect life.
If anything, I would like this blog to be better and better, and have a meaning to others. And even this is not a new year’s resolution.
For that, I don’t have to wait for next year. I’m doing it right now.
Happy New Year, everybody. May our lives be filled with joy, great wealth, great health and great sex in the coming year!

Same like you, I don’t do NY resolution. For me, I can make new resolution everyday, and why should wait only once a year?
For example, find a new boyfriend/ girlfriend.. what happen if along the year we haven’t found the right one? The NY resolution makes it like an obligation.
Have a blast NY girl…

Couldn’t agree more with Ecky (not that I’m being her Copycat *wink) and you, Parvita, that we don’t need to wait until December 31 to do something new. When we’re 20s we thought the world revolves around us, so we thought we are the center of the universe. Now we realize that life is funny, the more it becomes unpredictable, the more fun we’d have! Happy New Year!

Couple of years back I made a resolution, ‘not to make any New Year resolution’; for a simple reason, I couldn’t keep them. Why promise something to yourself and later find that you can’t keep it, and feel miserable about it! We already got enough worries in life, why to add one more unnecessarily. Oh boy, but this year, last night I made a resolution out of anger on current Mr. # 01 on iThink (Marko). See broke my very own resolution of past few years! Damn! Check this link out, you would find why Parvita.
And trust me, I have already started to act on it already, and as long as I am on iThink, would continue to do so. To some, it may sound silly; but heyee, this is what I believe in! Silly resolution… huh?
Have a blasting New Year ahead. Have SAFE fun!!!

Frank, nice to see you finally visit my blog. Yeah, you were pretty blunt there.
I would keep resolutions simple. Anger is something that you have to work on everyday. I’ve commented on your wall. I agree with you and will keep posting opinions AND give opinions. We’ll talk in Facebook. Thanks for voting on the foreskin
Happy New Year to you, too!

Each time when I said I want to control my diet to help me deal with my endometriosis pains (no wheat, no caffeine, no chocolate, no sugar in whatever form, no red meats … etc) , the next day I will make myself a cup of coffee / tea and a slice of cake / donut / bread. I am fully aware what this bad food intake will do to my body esp. when I forgot to eat fruits or veggies
I am a semi vegan now … I wish I can be a total vegetarian *sigh*
to neutralize those forbidden treats. Imagine how long a resolution mean to last a whole year would stick to me if I resolve to eat smarter

@Elyani: I wish I could be semi-vegan! There was a time I couldn’t eat red meat because I went to a sheep farm in Australia and my vegetarian friend explained to me about the cruelty in the farm. But then it only lasted for a few months and I’m back as a meat lover
.
Parvita, how do you end up being a vegetarian?
January 3, 2008 at 7:16 am
I was a vegetarian from 1994-1999 but then start consuming fish and seafood again. So I am a semi-vegetarian! I realize that I need some protein from animal and I go for seafood. I don’t eat anything with legs, that’s about it. I also learned from my geaky gym buddy that vegetarians usually have some deficiencies due to the incomplete protein intake. You can take it from soy, but still not enough, especially for a person with my sort of activities.

Since I’m sundanesse, vegies are my fave food of all. Vegies/lalapan + sambal = yum… lol
If I have to choose between steak/lamb chop and vegie, I will choose vegies without any doubts

I understand the reason why one of my friends stoped making resolutions simply because he dint reach them. My advice to anyone who would like to make resolutions: keep them simple and do not overburden yourself.
Happy new year
