This is LOSE-LOSE (not Win-Win) situation. What makes something successful, you have to assimilate to the local habit. You’re being strict you’ll be fu*^ed. So I think the reason behind Shell put that kind of graph was not to encourage the bikers to go with 10 people on their bike but, considering the situation, when it happens (the bikers with 10 passenger) this is what they should do..bla bla bla.

It’s not their job (shell, conoco, bp whatever) to encourage people to do safe habit, but, it is their job to perform their work safely. How? By making procedure (like the one on graph) if you want to refuel your bike, for example.

It’s not Europe or US, it’s Indonesia for heaven sake, so please adjust your lifestyle and way of thinking, for only a little bit.

In Bali, I’ve seen huge posters from one of the motorbike manufacturers (I forgot which one: Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki.. one of them lah). It boasted the features of their newly released vehicle. From Denpasar to Singaraja, only xx hours! Consuming only xx liters of gasoline! Can run up to XX km/hour! And with FOUR passangers! The last bit made me laugh, cos motorbikes are made only for two. Is the manufacturer actually saying it’s acceptable to ride four people in one bike? But what can you do when money’s tight and public transportation is unreliable? What’s amazing is that they never pause to think how dangerous it is of what might happen…. guess they can’t afford to do that too.

Whoa Vit, I’m surprised too! Will pass your post to Shell in Aberdeen, see what they think. ESPECIALLY sine Shell always, always put safety above everything.
